Life Safety Code Boot Camp

Life Safety Compliance Boot Camp for Nursing Facilities

COMMENTS FROM PREVIOUS TRAINING MEMBERS:  Kenn is a great educator, very knowledgeable; Best program I have ever been to, thanks; Great, informative seminar, would highly recommend.  What could have been a dry topic was made so interesting by Kenn.  Kenn is truly one of the best presenters I have ever heard.  Not to be missed!

CMS adopted both the 2012 Life Safety and Healthcare Facilities Code establishing many new expectations for inspection, testing and maintenance for the many features of fire protection found in long term care facilities. Survey agencies have increasingly enforced these standards with greater scrutiny, resulting in a sharp rise in citations. The comprehensive nature of the updated codes has created a pressing need for facility leaders to gain a deeper understanding of their responsibilities—and how to meet them effectively.

Managing all of  the various requirements of the Life Safety Code and Health Care Facilities Code is an intricate process. That is why Kenneth Daily, LNHA, Life Safety expert, has created this program that will provide you and your team with the information and resources you need to manage your facility’s life safety program. This course ensures you have the necessary information and resources to successfully manage programs as standards change.

New Mexico Healthcare Association  and Kenn Daily, LNHA, President of Elder Care Systems Group, will offer an intensive 2-day training focused on the requirements of NFPA 101 Life Safety Code and NFPA 99 Health Care Facilities Code for skilled nursing centers.

In response to CMS’s increasing scrutiny, recognized expert, Kenneth Daily, Life Safety Specialist has developed an intensive two-day training program specifically tailored for:

    Facility & Maintenance Managers

    Environmental Services Directors

    Administrators

This unique program will help you understand practical applications of the Life Safety Code and learn from a life safety expert on what to prepare for during survey. Using real life examples and survey scenarios, attendees will explore how these codes apply to nursing facilities, discuss code changes and the increased inspection, testing and maintenance (ITM) requirements, and review common violations. Participants will gain:

A clear understanding of the Life Safety Code's core principles, including building construction, fire protection systems, door and egress expectations, emergency power systems, and inspection testing and maintenance procedures.

Each participant will receive all life safety forms,  sample policies, and materials, documentation templates, and best-practice guides that can be immediately implemented in your facility.

Insights into common survey deficiencies and how to avoid them, based on real citations and case studies.

Objectives:

1.    Clarify expectations for the inspection, testing, and maintenance (ITM) of critical life safety systems, including sprinklers, fire alarms, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, and fire-rated doors.

2.    Review key Life Safety Code (LSC) NFPA 101 requirements for healthcare occupancies such as skilled nursing homes.

3.    Identify and evaluate the most frequently cited LSC deficiencies, highlighting root causes and opportunities for prevention.

4.    Develop and recommend actionable policies, standards, or guidelines to support immediate facility-level improvements in life safety compliance and preparedness.

The cost is $225 per person for members and $450 per person for non-members. A $50 early-bird discount will be applied to all registrations through September 1, 2025.
